Workstation Selection

What is it?

The Workstation Selection system supports the Campus Bulk Purchase process allowing for the selection of campus standard computers in order to facilitate discounted purchases.  It supports the Academic Affairs Instructional Equipment and Faculty Refresh processes as well as campus-wide end-of-year computer purchases.

Academic Technology coordinates the annual computer Bulk Purchase for units in the Division of Academic Affairs. Through the Bulk Purchase, the campus pools computer orders for faculty, staff and instructional spaces in order to maximize the savings to the campus. Typically, this process begins in April when eligible faculty are invited to begin making faculty refresh selections and when colleges are notified of the opening of the Instructional Equipment request process.

The Faculty Refresh, Instructional Equipment purchase, and all other departmental-funded computer orders are pooled into a single purchase order in May/June. While computer purchases can be made throughout the year, we recommend planning for regular computer replacement orders to be included in the annual Bulk Purchase as departments will maximize their computing budgets as the prices available through the annual Bulk Purchase will be lower than the regular educational discounts.

All Academic Affairs units are eligible to participate in the annual Bulk Purchase.

For Instructional Equipment:

1. Log on to the Workstation Select System using your SFSU credentials - https://select.sfsu.edu/

2. Depending on your role, you may have access to more than one purchase type. Select Instructional Equipment (Bulk Purchase requests are for College or unit funded workstation purchases that would qualify for a bulk discount).

3. Review the standard workstation options under the Standard Workstations tab. Some models may allow for customization options such as additional memory or storage. If you need a specialized workstation, contact AT: at_desk@sfsu.edu.
