Equipment Checkout

What is it?

AT offers a checkout service for a wide array of audiovisual equipment to faculty and staff. From display adapters for connecting to classroom A/V, to cameras and tripods for recording lectures; AT provides material support to make it easy to include and use technology for classroom instruction. Whether it’s a semester-long recurring checkout, or you need a laptop in an emergency, contact us to get the equipment you need for teaching.

Academic Technology will be providing semester-based equipment check-out as an alternative to the regular pick-up method traditionally offered for instructors teaching on-campus classes.

Checkout requests must be made ahead of time via email to or phone call to (415)405-5555. All equipment requests can be picked up by appointment during normal business hours, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.

The checkout desk in LIB 80 will be closed to drop-ins during the Fall 2021 semester.

The equipment checkout counter is in LIB 80 on the ground floor. Pickups and returns are at this location; we do not offer delivery to classrooms.

Request forms:


  • Equipment is for faculty and staff only; students are able to access equipment from the Library.
  • Have your SFSU ID ready when coming to pick up equipment.
  • Checkout duration is usually one business day, no more than three consecutive days. 
    • Laptop checkouts to staff must be returned on the same day.
  • Display adapters can be checked out for the entire semester.
  • A reservation expires after three hours if it is not picked up.
