Cablecast Instructions

1. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

2. Next to the main power switch is the PROJECTOR CONTROL.

Press the POWER ON button ONCE.
The projector will take about 25 seconds to warm up.

On the same control, press the VIDEO button below the
POWER button. VIDEO displays on screen.

3. Locate the AMPLIFIER in the front of the console.

Turn the LEFT AND RIGHT OUTPUT knobs to 12 o’clock.
Turn the SOURCE ONE knob to 10 o’clock.

4. Select channel on tuner

The VCR/DVD player has failed and has been removed. It will not be replaced. Cablecast is available to view media in this classroom. For assistance please contact: ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY: 338-1494, at.sfsu.edu, Library room 85
 

Laptop Instructions

1. MAKE SURE THE LAPTOP IS TURNED OFF.

2. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

3. Next to the main power switch is the PROJECTOR CONTROL.

Press the POWER ON button ONCE.
The projector will take about 25 seconds to warm up.

On the same control, press the COMP button below the POWER button. (LAPTOP displays on screen)

Press the DOWN ARROW to correct cut off or jumping
computer image.
Press the UP ARROW to activate the NO SHOW function.
Projected image will go black. Press again to resume.

4. Locate the VGA connector on the back of your laptop.

Macs/some PC's will require an adapter.

5. Stored on the side of the console, there is a black cable.

Attach it to the VGA connector on your laptop.

Line up the connector carefully and do not force theconnection. There are very delicate pins inside and if damaged, they can corrupt the image on screen.

6. You can tighten the screws to secure the connection.

Be gentle, don’t tighten them too tight.

7. TURN ON YOUR LAPTOP LAST.

TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER OFF button on the Projector Control.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.


Computer Audio Instructions

1. Attached to the VGA cable is an audio (mini) cable. Plug it in to the headphone jack on your laptop. Make sure the volume is turned up on your laptop.

2. Locate the AMPLIFIER in the front of the console.

Turn the LEFT AND RIGHT OUTPUT knobs to 12 o’clock.

Turn the SOURCE TWO knob to 10 o’clock.

INTERNET ACCESS:
Wired: Use an RJ-45 ethernet cable (AV#C-10) to connect to the data jack in
this room. No login required.
Wireless: To connect, select “SFSU” from the list of available networks. Start
your web browser. You will be redirected to a login screen.

Troubleshooting Information

1. No image through the projector:

Is the Console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH ON?
Can you see a blue light coming from the projector?
(If not, the projector is not on)
Check the PROJECTOR SOURCE buttons (VIDEO OR COMP)?
Check that the VGA cable is connected to your laptop securely.
Press the keyboard sequence to activate mirroring (see chart above).

2. No Sound:

Check the AMPLIFIER POWER. Look for a green light in the middle of the unit.
LEFT & RIGHT OUTPUT Volume at 12:00
SOURCE 1 or SOURCE 2 at 10:00 or higher
Is the volume up on your laptop?

3. The computer image is cut off on one side or jumping:

Press the DOWN ARROW button on the Projector Control box.
If that does not work, RESTART THE LAPTOP.

4. No internet access:

Wireless: call DoIT at 81420.
Wired:
The ethernet cable may not be working. You may check one out from our office.
Faculty must come to our office to with SFSU ID to check out the cable.
Your computer is not configured properly to log on to the network.
Call DoIT at 81420 for assistance.
The wall jack in the room may not be working.
Call 81494 to have someone come out and check it. No quick fix available.
If these steps do not work, call 81494.
