Summary

Instructions to use consoles in rooms BH 210  

Video projector console


Cablecast Instructions

1. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

On/Off switch

2. Mounted on the front of the console is the projector control. Press the POWER ON button ONCE.

On the same control, press the VIDEO button. VIDEO appears on screen

3. Locate the amplifier on the front of the console

Turn the LEFT AND RIGHT OUTPUT knobs to 12 o’clock.
Turn the SOURCE ONE knob to 10 o’clock.

4. Turn on the VCR.

Use the remote control in the console drawer to select the channel. Channel will appear on the VCR display.
Call 15103 to start your broadcast.
PLEASE SET CHANNEL TO 61 WHEN YOU ARE DONE.

TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER OFF button on the Projector Control.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.

 


VCR/DVD Instructions

1. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

4. Turn on the VCR.

Insert your media and press PLAY.
Remember to EJECT your media before you leave.

You may need to press the VCR/DVD button on the front of the player to switch between the to playback devices.

Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.


CD Instructions

1. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

On/Off switch

2. Locate the amplifier on the front of the console.

Turn the LEFT AND RIGHT OUTPUT knobs to 12 o’clock.
Turn the SOURCE ONE knob to 10 o’clock.

3. Press the POWER button on the DVD player-Insert your disc and press PLAY.

Remember to EJECT your disc before you leave.

Laptop Instructions

1. Make sure the laptop is turned OFF.

2. Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in the upper right corner of the console.

On/Off switch

3. Mounted on the front of the console is the PROJECTOR CONTROL.

Press the POWER ON button ONCE.
The projector will take about 25 seconds to warm up.

4. Locate the VGA connector on the back of your laptop.
Macs require an adapter.

5. In the drawer under the VCR, there is a black cable.

Attach it to the VGA connector on your laptop.

Line up the connector carefully and do not force the connection. There are very delicate pins inside and if damaged, they can corrupt the image on screen.

6.You can tighten the screws to secure the connection.
Be gentle, don’t tighten them too tight.

7. TURN ON YOUR LAPTOP LAST.

If the computer image is cut off or jumping, press the UP ARROW button on the projector control box.

TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER OFF button on the Projector Control.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.


Computer Audio Instructions

1. Attached to the VGA cable is an audio (mini) cable. Plug it in to the headphone jack on your laptop. Make sure the volume is turned up on your laptop.

2. Locate the amplifier on the front of the console.

Turn the LEFT AND RIGHT OUTPUT knobs to 12 o’clock.
Turn the SOURCE TWO knob to 9 o’clock.

3. Laptop Mirroring

If you do not see your laptop image through the projector, use the keyboard command specific to your laptop:
Press the Fn and the modifier key at the same time.
It may take a second for your laptop to respond.

TO ACCESS THE INTERNET:
Wired: Use the ethernet cable in the drawer.


Troubleshooting Information

No image through the projector:

Is the Console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH ON?
Can you see a blue light coming from the projector? (If not, the projector is not on)
Have you selected the correct SOURCE: VIDEO or COMP?
If you are using the VCR/DVD player, press the VCR/DVD button on the player to switch between players.
If you are using a computer, check that the VGA cable is connected to your laptop securely.

No Sound:

Is the Amplifier on? Are the LEFT & RIGHT OUTPUT Levels at 12:00 and the SOURCE 1 or 2 at 9:00 or higher?
Is the volume up on your laptop?

The computer image is cut off on one side or jumping:

Press the DOWN ARROW button on the Projector Control.
If that does not work, restart the LAPTOP.

Can’t log on to the internet:

Your ethernet cable may not be working. Call 81494 to report a problem.
Your computer is not configured properly to log on to the network.
Please go to Computing Services in ADM 110 for assistance or call 81420.
Call 81494 to have someone come out and check it. No quick fix available.
If these steps do not work, call Academic Technology at 81494. Tell us:

  1. What room you are in.
  2. What the problem is.
