Media Collection

Over the years, Academic Technology has accumulated a vast library of media that can be checked out by faculty for use in their courses. Our collection currently has over 17,000 titles from all different genres and time periods. Any of the titles in our collection can be checked out for use in the classroom. If your classroom does not have facilities for playing the media, you may also check out the necessary equipment to play the video in your classroom. In addition to classroom viewing, faculty may also make most of our media available to students for out-of-class viewing through the Library Media Services in J. Paul Leonard Library.

Archived Media

Titles are withdrawn from the AV Collection from time to time for a number of reasons. Sometimes they deteriorate until they are no longer usable. The most frequent reason for pulling a title is our limited shelf space - we simply have to make room for new media by removing older, less used titles. We have a Media Archive of several hundred 16mm prints used in University courses in past years. Unfortunately many of these prints are becoming brittle with age and lack of use.

Access Policy

All titles listed in the AT Media Catalog may be checked out by faculty of San Francisco State University only. These titles in our collection are owned by SF State under restrictive license agreements and copyright law, and are thereby not available for duplication, loan or rental to other schools, libraries, or public agencies.
